Hyundai’s new speed sub-brand, N, has focused on electric cars for the first time. The all-wheel-drive Ioniq 5 N’s 641 horsepower is impressive, but this electric SUV is much more than just strong; it has been completely rebuilt and strengthened compared to the regular Ioniq 5. We also now know how much more Hyundai wants in exchange for all of the N’s improvements. The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N starts at $67,475, which is $15,200 more than a 2024 AWD Ioniq 5 SEL and $8,700 more than the fully equipped Limited trim with AWD. The $1,375 delivery charge is added to all prices.
I have updated the engine
If you do the math, you’ll see that the Ioniq 5 N is a great deal when it comes to price per horsepower. The base AWD Ioniq 5 costs $52,275 and has 320 horsepower. Adding 321 horsepower for only $15,200 is better than almost any aftermarket choice. But the output is shown with an asterisk because N Grin Boost is on. This boosts output from the stated 601 horsepower for up to 10 seconds at a time. Hyundai says that the Ioniq 5 N can go from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.25 seconds and has a top speed of 162 mph.
The N version has more horsepower and a bigger battery pack—84 kWh compared to 77.4 kWh in the standard Ioniq 5s with AWD. Hyundai hasn’t said how far the vehicles can go on a single charge yet, but the EPA says that by 2024, the 320-hp vehicle will be able to go 260 miles on a single charge. The more powerful engines will probably drain the battery faster. The N can get its battery charged from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes with a DC fast charger that can send out up to 238 kilowatts of energy, according to the company.
Features and what’s available
The Hyundai Ioniq N will only come in one trim level in 2025. It has widened wheel arches that make it 2 inches wider than the regular Ioniq 5 and a rear diffuser that adds more than 3 inches to the length of the car. Large 15.8-inch front and 14.2-inch rear brake discs are also on it, along with 21-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero performance tires. As with other N models, the outside has orange accents painted in black, matte gray, white, or orange, and it comes in the sub-brand’s signature Performance Blue Matte color. They will get the Ioniq N this month.
