Reports say that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is in the lead. The Tesla Model Y got our 2023 Invoice Pricing SUV of the Year award because of its long-range, sleek, boxy design that looks like something from the 1980s and its roomy interior. A lot of people are excited about the new N-speed model, which is fair. However, we have shown that it can still be used as an EV even when charging at home isn’t possible.

Hyundai isn’t happy with how popular the Ioniq 5 is because a new model is about to come out. How do we know? At first glance, it would appear that they are identical. However, Hyundai just released the Ioniq 5 in Korea, which means it’s an update in the middle of the model cycle. The American market is likely to undergo some big changes soon.

One of the best things about these changes is the new Ioniq 5 N Line trim, which has the same sporty look as other Hyundai cars, even ones sold in the United States. Hyundai has said that the N Line will not be sold in the United States, but the other improvements it offers give us a taste of what to expect when the 2025 Ioniq 5 hits the market in North America in a few months.

Is the Korean Hyundai Ioniq 5 a separate American model?

Small changes have been made to the outside

Aside from the N Line improvements, there are a few changes to the outside. However, people with sharp eyes will notice that the front bumper has been slightly changed and now has a bigger “air dam.” Also, the rear bumper has been redesigned. It still has the same general shape, but the details are now simpler. The Korean domestic market (KDM) N Line trim also has rear wipers. The American model doesn’t have these, but they may be added to a future model. This idea isn’t new, but we need to let our readers know that it won’t happen in America any time soon because of our different rules. It also has aerodynamic side mirrors with cameras that feed video to TVs inside.

Even more subdued changes to the inside

The cup holders are now lined up with the edge of the passenger seat, and the HVAC buttons are much more accessible in the center panel, which now has a wireless charging pad built in and is closer to the driver. We’ll see if the Ioniq 5 makes better use of its space when we get our hands on it.

Soon, there will be a bigger battery

The last and most important change is a bigger, new 84 kWh battery pack. This is bigger than the 77.4 kWh battery pack in the 2024 Ioniq 5 SE and SEL trims. It looks like it works with the new Ioniq 5 N. Those versions with bigger batteries need a big boost in range since the power output stays the same (much lower than the powerful N model).

When will the Ioniq 5 XRT Trim come out

There are rumors that an Ioniq 5 XRT version will be launched with an off-road theme, tough accessories, and an aggressive look. For the 2025 model year, the Ioniq 5 XRT will only be sold in North America.

It needs to be clarified what the XRT’s look is, but it’s likely to have different wheels, blacked-out accents and badges, and a unique front end. That shouldn’t happen beyond the extra height that suspension sliders or bigger tires may give you, but having more ground clearance would be great.

We might find out more about Hyundai’s 2025 Ioniq 5 range in the next six months. We will notify you when further information becomes available.
