There is something very appealing about a well-done restored building. Some of them might be the perfect mix of modern speed and classic style, making for a unique driving experience. The Volvo P1800 Cyan GT might be the best example of that idea. Both Singer and Cyan make their P1800s to order, which can take up to 12 or 15 months. Not long ago, the company pulled back the curtain on a customer’s Volvo P1800 Cyan GT build and shared many juicy details.

A donor car had to be taken apart to just the frame so that Cyan’s experts could add “high-strength” steel to it and prepare it for a better independent suspension. A new carbon fiber body was put on the frame after it was treated to stop corrosion. Then, it was painted a strong shade of deep crimson, and the seats were upholstered in sand-colored fabric.

The engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 350 horsepower. It is paired with a five-speed Holinger transmission. All of the factory wiring has been replaced with a new loom that uses a PDM-controlled system created by Cyan and based on CAN-bus technology.

When the build is done, the headlights, hood latch, handbrake switch, and chassis floor will be the only original P1800 parts left. Cyan made copies of the switch gear inside, even though it all looked like the real thing. Apparently, this buyer chose to add even more soundproofing, most likely so they could ride for longer and be more comfy.

Cyan needed to provide information about the customer or the commission amount; however, the P1800 we tried cost around $700,000. If what we said just ruined your chances of ever having one, we’re very sorry. If that helps, we’re glad these kinds of cars are still around. This is another commission from a customer. It looks like a GT cruiser and was painted green with gold details.
